Gotta love Ewe Toob

Post by PHPaul »

Parking Brake on the Vette is wedged between the driver's seat and the door sill. Hasn't been used in years, doesn't want to release enough to turn off the warning light. Can't get at it to lube it without removing the driver's seat.

Checked Da Toob and if you know where the clips are, it's a 5 minute job. One clip under the front edge and the bottom cushion comes off, 4 easily accessible bolts and the seat frame and back lift out. Two Phillips screws and the cover over the brake lever comes off. Bada-bing, bada-boom.

35 years of dried up grease softened with some WD-40 and Bob's yer aunt (Bob's a kinky dude...)

I did take some extra door sill molding off so I could mask around the brake mechanism with some Saran Wrap before hosing it down with WD-40 so as not to soak the carpet.

Replaced the wimpy horn yesterday so it doesn't sound like a 60's VW Beetle.

The tube is a great reference tool— and sounds like you are making good progress, congrats.

I have had fair luck with you tube. I did end up spending about $150 for a valve for my fridge, when all that was wrong was the water inlet tube was frozen up. But I listened to the you tube experts tell me 100% that valve was the problem. Their directions on how to change the valve were good, but I just needed a hair dryer to melt the ice.
