Some fractal burning on teak. I'm thinking that with a polyurethane finish and felt bottoms they'd make pretty nifty coaster sets. The large one would be for a pitcher.

What would you think would be a reasonable price for a set of 6 or 8 with the pitcher coaster? I can make them round or octagonal if it looks like something I could make a buck on.

I have a number in mind that I'd have to have to make it worth my time, but I don't want to skew the responses.

Be brutal, I'd expect nothing less...

Based on some of the stuff I have seen. I guess 30-50 bucks maybe even higher. It would all depend on finding suck ehr I mean a market for them. I playing around making canes. I have asked and get responses about prices. Get sugestios of 15-50 dollars. I looked around on internet and see 100+ price tags. For me making it is not a problem. Finding a market is.

Head over to Bar Harbor and find a craft shop that sells things like that to the tourists.

See what the going price is and figure out if that is enough to cover your costs, time & efforts, plus enough profit to make it worthwhile. That would be your price.

Better get over there before the summer season gets going. You probably don't like tourists.

$7-$8 each for the small ones, $10 for the big one.

Right kinda market.

Coasters are high for some reason, least good ones are.

Okay, that fits with my thinking.

I was thinking around $50 for a set of 8, plus shipping.

As noted, finding a market is the key.

I may try one set and put it on Flea Bay just for gits and shiggles and see where it goes.

i wouldn't even try to guess these days. lately i'm constantly amazed at the price of things, but Rosie tells me it has something to do with my age. i guess when you can remember a gallon of gas being about a quarter, and a pack of smokes about the same, EVERYTHING seems over priced to me these days. usta buy a 16 ounce bottle of RC cola for a dime...could be those things are worth $100 or more.

Have you seen the video where they do the mirror image by placing two boards face to face?

I would suggest the 'food grade' butcher block finish that's sold at Lowe's. apply with a
2" foam brush (also at Lowe's) put on 4 or 5 coats (use 300- 400 grit paper between the last 2 coats) It has a brilliant high gloss and dries with (0- zero) residue. That's what I used on the knife handle that I sent you. ( not one thing was done to the handle after the last coat!
As for market???????? You ain't gonna make any money, but do it and be proud of your work.

Good idea on the food grade. I'll grab a can.

Burned 3 pairs of book-matched pieces, waiting on them to dry (from the electrolyte) so I can wirebrush them and get a good look at the patterns. Couple of them looked pretty good wet, the other not so much.
