I got a new camera for Christmas. A Canon EOS R100. Nothing fancy, just wanted something a little more up to date than what I had, Easy to use, didn't cost a fortune, and was just handy.
So far so good. Need to figure out how the wireless functions work.
But the cheapskates didn't include a printed manual. I am going to have to spring for about $20 to get a printed manual. If I am traveling I often let Tammy drive, and I can study up on things, so I like a manual in print.
Hope Santa was good to everyone. Paul, look at the bright side, you can always heat the house with that coal ya got !!

We're not speaking about heat at the moment...
Spent good money on a pellet stove and the various accoutrements necessary to install it in place of the wood stove.
Mrs. PHPaul wouldn't let me burn the wood stove because if the wind came around from the wrong direction it would occasionally puff back a little smoke.
Now she won't let me fire up the pellet stove because she read the instructions (NEVER read the instructions!!!) and it mentioned that it may smell a bit as things bake in.
So, the fucking thing sits there until Spring when we can open the windows and get fans going "in case it smells bad".
Gah.

Sometimes you just cant win !!
Take it outside. put it inside an old tractor rear rim. build a big fire around it. Cook it for about half a day. It wont smell no more. !!

How cold will she have to get before she begs you to start it up. I know a few that switched from wood to pellets, they all told me it wasn't much different than the smell of a new wood stove. I suggest put a pot of water with cedar shavings on it, some folks say that covers the smell of baking one in.

When our wood fireplace was installed, the installer left off one section of flue pipe. Said we didn't need it, so I took it back to the dealer, and that was that. EXCEPT! Once in a great while, the wind will puff back when you are trying to get a fire started in a cold flue. If we have a good hot fire going, or even a bed of hot coals it is OK. Just when starting in a cold stove. Tammy says we needed that extra section of pipe, and I agree. We get by. I generally open the windows a crack, and I like using that fatwood that we buy for starting. If you get your fire starting logs and kindling done right, it generally fires right up, and once it warms everything up, no problem
Wonder if you need more pipe/draft?
